Role-playing game guidebook illustrations

In early 2001, a friend informed me that his acquaintance was starting up a role-playing game company and was looking for artists to create illustrations for the company's first game, "Legends of Valthiar." Upon review of my portfolio, I was offered a job as an illustrator for the game's rule book. The drawings contained in the book include those of creatures and races that inhabit the game's world, city scenes, and situations a player could find him/herself in the game. Although I do not play role-playing games myself, I am told the mechanics of the game are inventive and allow for free and creative play.

2001年の始めに、友達は彼の知り合いがロールプレーイングゲームを販売する会社を起こして、最初に出すゲーム「ヴァルシアルの伝説」に関わるイラストレーターを探している、と教えてくれた。画集を送って応募した結果、ゲームのガイドブックのイラストレーター１人になった。その本に掲載されている私が描いた絵は、ゲームの世界に存在する生き物や怪物、町の風景、プレイ中の場面の例である。自分がRPGで遊ばないが、このゲームの創意に富んだ仕組みによって自由に創造的なプレイができるとよく言われていた。
