My university's graphic design student organization, clubDesign, was invited by the gallery director to create promotional posters and entry forms for the 2004 juried student art show. As the co-president I felt it would be a conflict of interest to submit my own designs, however I did prepare designs in the eventuality that no members would be interested—it was a busy time of the term. The noose, electric chair and the accompanying phrase attempt to alleviate nervousness and encourage students to submit their artworks to the show, as entry would be possible for many and those whose work were to be rejected need not worry too much about the decision.

申込書

大学では展示室の室長がクラブデザイン（グラフィックデザイン学生部）に2004年度学生展の広告ポスターと同展の申込書をデザインすることを依頼した。私がクラブデザインの相互部長として自己制の作品を提出すれば利害が対立すると思ったが、学生が忙しい時期だったので、万一、時間がなく部員が作れない場合のために提出できるものを用意しておいた。多くの学生に入展できる可能性があり、断れてもたいした問題ではないので、緊張を和らげて作品を展に提出してみようというような励みとして、首つり縄と電気椅子に「すべての判決はこのようにならないよ」という文句をつけた。
